21 kids. 30 team members. 10 years. The COMUNiTI Crew has achieved a lot!
As part of COMUNiTI’s 10 year celebration I want to celebrate our network of employees, contractors, and collaborators. Our team size has ebbed and flowed over the years as we scaled the business and repositioned ourselves, and throughout the journey there’s so many who have been dedicated to our success and an incredible support network for my family and I.
If you run a business or lead a team I’m sure you’ll agree — teamwork is a special kind of magic. When people come together and minds meet, sparks fly. Teams bring simple joy to the toughest days. They share hopes for the future and make the plans to get there even better through creativity and fun. And over time, teams forge deep connections that go far beyond work itself. At COMUNiTI, the idea of our team being a ‘family’ is more than a cute label — our wider team has included 21 kids over our 10 year history, and counting!
As we’ve shared our journeys to, and through, parenthood, we’ve co-created our version of what a ‘family friendly’ workplace is. As a mother of three, I truly understand all the phases of trying for a family, pregnancy, the beautiful love-bubble when you welcome a child, and the years of schooling and growing that follow. And I have experienced all the complex pangs of guilt, joy, anxiety, loss, excitement, judgement, and worry that come with navigating these phases of parenthood, alongside a career.
It was so important to me to create a workplace that welcomed our female colleagues back to the workforce after starting a family, where my team could enjoy both parenthood and work, without restraint.
Being a Mum is messy.
Careers are complicated.
There’s no hard edges or boundaries.
We simply can and should be able to enjoy all of both.
So, we made flexible work a ‘thing’ before it became a ‘thing’!
It really is the babes of all shapes and sizes that make COMUNiTI feel like a community — fur-babies, human babies, toddlers, tweens, and teens, and the big kids at heart.
Importantly, we have fun together. The old ‘work hard, play hard’ mantra is our motto, and on the play hard front, we’ve enjoyed cooking schools, ninja warrior courses (don’t ask!), yoga and day spa retreats. And always my fav, we’ve enjoyed many a playful day in the office where we’ve had a good laugh.
